With a 12-0 thrashing against the Lakers, Kloten dangled back to the playoff spot. NHL stars are gone. No problem, Zug has a new rising star. Lino Martschini had five points Saturday night;
Bern 3 Biel 0
Friday evening, Biel fans were celebrating the number eight spot with "Vamos a la Playoffs" chants. Saturday night it was another story. Biel acted passively and defensively with the tactic that already beat Bern four times this season. This time, this style did not lead to the desired success.
The best man on the ice was Jaroslav Bednar. The Czech player scored the opening goal after 88 seconds and prepared the second and the third for Martin Pluss (2:0) and Petr Sykora (3:0). Bern goalie Marco Buehrer with the seventh shutout of the season(34 saves) is a hot goalie for the play-offs.
Ambri 6 Geneva 5 (SO)
After three wins in the last four games Servette took the game with a lot of confidence in attack. After 16 minute it was 3-1 for guest team. By the minute 22 Ambri fought back to 3:3. As a result, Geneva score twice before(4-3, 5-4) , but the Ambri fought back again twice. The 5:5 by Marc Reichert it was made at 58:28.
In the shoot out only former NHL player Richard Park score for the victory. Mention to Jason Williams with his 24th goal of the season.
Fribourg 2 Lugano 3
Fribourg lost 2:3 against Lugano and the second game in two days. On Friday night in Geneva, Fribourg had played well and lost 4:5 after extra time. At home against Lugano home team did not made a good game. New foreign player from Fribourg, Maxim Sushinsky made a reasonable start with a goal and assist.
After two games and two losses without Julien Sprunger(Seven games suspension). Fribourg coach Hans Kossmann is currently examining the alternatives for that hot spot. On Friday Sandro Brugger played alongside Benny Plüss and Andrey Bykov, on Saturday it was the Russian veteran Maxim Sushinsky.
Lugano goalie Michael Flückiger shined with 25 saves.
Kloten 12 Lakers 0
With a 12-0 thrashing against the Lakers, Kloten dangled back to the playoff spot.
Alexandre Giroux in his second NLA game already made the first hat trick (3 goals, 1 assist). Brian Willsie prepared four goals. Giroux and Willsie played alongside with Matthias Bieber, who also scored a hat trick, his third in the NLA and the first since two and a half years. Also mention to Patrick von Gunten (1 goal, 3 assists).
And the Rapperswil-Jona Lakers? Four-day training camp in Arosa for nothing. If the Lakers don't took the game in another level they could be in deep trouble for a NLA spot. On defense, the Lakers defended with amateurism. And in attack the guests acted unimaginative and harmless.
Zürich 4 Langnau 2
Zürich hade more trouble with Langnau than expected. The defending champions won on home ice thanks to two goals in the last 95 seconds. With 4:2 the Lions celebrated his eighth win in their last nine games.
The game winning goal scored by Andreas Ambühl the 3:2, it was his 300th point in the NLA. Young Langnau goalie Remo Giovannini shined against Zürich with 33 saves. Also mention to Etienne Froidevaux from Langnau with two goals.
Zug 6 Davos 3
NHL stars are gone? No problem. Zug has a new rising star. Lino Martschini had five points Saturday night. Zug is unstoppable at present. The Doug Shedden team beat Davos 6:3 at home and celebrated his fifth win in a row.
The main reason for this ride is the second storm line with Lino Martschini, Fabian Sutter and Linus Omark. The 20-year Martschini had for the second time in his NLA career three goals in a game. The first one was at 22nd January against Langnau. Since the end of the lockout, he has already scored ten times in 16 games.
