The last round of the Elitserien was played tonight. Skellefteå won the league with a 12-point margin. Färjestad got the second place with the same number of points as third placed Luleå and HV 71.
Luleå HF - HV 71 2 - 1
(1-0, 0-1, 1-0)
The most interesting game of the last round was without a doubt the one between Luleå and HV 71. The home team got a 2-1 win thanks to two goals by Jebs Jakobs and captured the third place of the league. Due to the loss HV 71 dropped from second to fourth place and lost the advantage to choose quarter final opponent. Mattias Karlsson scored HV 71's goal. Niklas Olausson assisted both Luleå goals.
Skellefteå AIK - MODO Hockey 3 - 2
(1-1, 1-0, 0-1, 1-0)
The league's top scorer George Holloway earned another three points when Skellefteå beat MODO 3-2. He assisted to Martin Sevc's 1-1 and Petter Emanuelsson's 2-1 goal and then he scored the overtime winner at 64:20. Thanks to the two assists he reached 51 in the season - a new Elitserien record. Per-Åge Skrøder and Dave Spina scored MODO's goals.
Timrå IK - AIK 1 - 3
(0-0, 0-2, 1-1)
AIK won their last game of the season. For Timrå the season continues with Kvalserien where they risk relegation. Broc Little and Patric Blomdahl scored for the visitor AIK in the second period. Radek Smolenak made it 1-2 at 50:29 but in the next minute Nicklas Jensen restored AIK's 2-goal lead.
Brynäs IF - Linköpings HC 2 - 4
(1-3, 0-1, 1-0)
Last year's champion Brynäs barely made it to the playoffs finishing 8th. Linköping finished 5th. In the last round Linköping won the game between the two 4-2. Brynäs scored 1-0 after 4:47 by Johan Harju. Then Pär Arlbrandt, Mattias Weinhandl, Johannes Salmonsson and Mattias Bäckman scored unanswered goals for the guests. Adam Bergqvist made it 2-4 early in the third period.
Rögle BK - Färjestads BK 1 - 4
(1-1, 0-0, 0-3)
Rögle finished last in the league and finished the season with another loss. Thanks to the win Färjestad got the important second place. Rögle's young forward Jakob Lilja scored his first Elitserien goal for 1-0 at 12:10 but then Max Görtz tied it at 14:00 and Per Åslund, Anton Grundel and Marius Holtet all scored in the third period to secure Färjestad's 4-1 win.
Växjö Lakers HC - Frölunda HC 1 - 2
(1-0, 0-0, 0-1, 0-0, 0-1)
The season is over for Växjö while Frölunda has qualified for the playoffs. Fredrik Eriksson was the man of the match tonight. He tied it at 58:51 after Rögle had had the lead for 53 minutes . And then he got the winner for Frölunda in the shootout.
