According to EHC Olten, defense Ronny Keller, severely affected after a check from behind on Tuesday evening, will remain paralyzed for life;
Michael Baumberger, the chief physician of the Swiss Paraplegic Center in Nottwil confirmed the information: "Following his heavy injury to the vertebrae (fractures of the second and fifth cervical vertebrae), Ronny Keller suffered a paraplegia of the lower limbs. "
"I feel nothing, I can't move." That's what the defense said, shortly before being evacuated by Rega helicopter .
The third game of the series is still questionable, it's up to judge Reto Steinmann to consider if both teams are ready to play Friday night or not. But despite of Ronny Keller severe injury, the players of Olten want to play the semi-final against Langenthal tomorow.
Stefan Schnyder is going through difficult times. The Langenthal player is followed by a professional psychological, says his club in a statement. Regardless of the sanction that the single judge will deliver, the 29-year-old will not play more in the semi-finals for his choice. Schnyder regrets what's happen: "I regret what happened, my thoughts are with Ronny. I just wanted to be in front of him at the plexi. I have this scene always in my mind and I blame myself."
Olten opened an address to send support for Ronny Keller. ronny.keller@ehco.ch.
Eurohockey wishes Ronny Keller and his family all the best that he can possibly have. Thoughts are with the player in this difficult moment.
