Three power play goals the key when Luleå wins quarter final three. Linköping wins after a penalty shot goal in sudden death overtime.
Luleå took the lead in the quarter final series against Frölunda. Penalties was decisive as Frölunda took 13 minor penalties and Luleå scored all their goals in power play.
In the first period Karl Fabricius made it 1-0 and Daniel Gunnarsson 2-0. The game was quite even when the teams were playing full strength but Luleå played good defensively and didn't allow Frölunda to create many chances.
The second period was scoreless but five minutes in to the third Linus Klasen gave Luleå a 3-0 with a high shot on a five on three power play.
A few minutes before the goal, Frölunda's goalie Julius Hudacek seemed to be unable to finish the game due to a hand injury but he decided to continue to play.
Joel Lundqvist luckily found the net from behind the goal during a delayed penalty call but Luleå's win was never in danger.
After being thrashed in the first game in Jönköping and with Carl Söderberg suspended you would believe that Linköping would have a hard time but now they're up 2-1 after winning 5-4 after overtime.
Pär Arlbrandt scored the game winner on a penalty shot 5:40 into the overtime after Linköping came back from being down 4-2.
Arlbrandt and Robin Figren both scored twice. After goals by Jesper Fasth and Arlbrand the score was 1-1 after the first. Figren gave Linköping the lead but goals from David Petrasek, Per Ledin and Jason Krog gave HV71 what seemed to be a safe 4-2 lead.
But the guests didn't gave up and Figren's second goal gave them contact againt and when Lee Goren scored shorthanded early in the third the game was tied.
The game winning goal by Arlbrandt puts Linköping in the driver's seat and they can take a 3-1 lead on home ice.
