Linköping runs over HV71 on away ice and wins 6-1 and moves on to next round. Luleå takes advantage in the series against Frölunda.
HV71 - Linköping 1-6 (Linköping win series 4-1)
HV71 had to win at home against Linköping to keep the quarter final series alive. But Linköping came out strong and had 3-0 already after 12 minutes. Robin Figren opened the scoring and when Johannes Salmonsson and Pär Arlbrandt scored two goals within just over one minute the game was almost already over.
And with two goals within 48 seconds halfway through the second period (Patrick Zackrisson and Arlbrandts second) Linköping killed all hopes for the home team. The guests was extremely efficient and scored six goals on 16 shots.
Despite 0-5 HV71 made a strong last period and got a consolation goal by Patrik Carlsson. They pulled the goalie with seven minutes left and created some chances but former HV71 goalie Andreas Andersson who replaced an injured Christian Engstrand made a strong game with 35 saves. And instead LHC added a sixth goal on the open net.
Luleå - Frölunda 4-1 (Luleå leads series 3-2)
In the other quarter final Luleå took the lead for the third time by winning at home again. It was a close game but Luleå was in control after a 1-0 lead in the first period when 17 year old Slovak Peter Cehralik made a nice goal. That was the only goal until late in the third period when Linus Persson tipped in 2-0 for Luleå.
Frölunda reduced the lead by Brendan Bell with 3:05 left. But they were never really close to tie it up and Luleå added two goals on the empty net for a 4-1 lead.
