By the end of the second period Vienna made sure to take the lead over Salzbrug, and KAC with a win on the road took the lead and have a huge opportunity to take another one at home Sunday.
Vienna - Salzburg 4:1 (Vienna lead series 3-2)
What was already known for home fans was proven three minutes before the end of the game. Jonathan Ferland scored on empty net to set a 4:1 victory for the Caps against Salzburg.
Luka Gracnar once again saw his start in net for Salzburg, but was replaced at the start of the second period by Bernd Bruckler. Matt Zaba put on a show in net for Vienna. The first goal came in the tenth minute. Justin Keller scored past Gracnar, and 40 second before the end of the first Ferland doubled the lead. In the dying seconds of the first Robert Davison of Salzburg got 2+2 minutes penalty for charging. In the 30th minute Doug Lynch got a major penalty for checking to the head and neck area and a game misconduct, and later on the Player Safety Department (DOPS) banned him for another game. A minute after Thomas Raffl scores on assist from Dominique Heinrich to reduce the lead, but two minutes after Joshua Soares brings a two-goal lead back on a powerplay.
Linz - KAC 2:3 (KAC lead series 3-2)
René Swette started in net for KAC, and on the other side David Leneveu stood between the pipes for Linz. Manuel Geier brought KAC in the lead in the seventh minute on assists fro David Schuller and Stefan Geier. At 22:22 Martin Mairitsch ties the game and the a goal fest came in the third period. In only a minute and 15 seconds Mike Siklenka and Thomas Koch gave KAC a comfortable 3:1 lead. Ten minutes prior to the end Mike Ouellette scored on a powerplay, but it wasn't enough for Linz to turn this one around.
