With just seven seconds left in regulation Dynamo Moscow also took game #3 in the series against SKA St. Petersburg and are just one step away from reaching this year's Gagarin Cup finals.
Western Conference finals, day 3
Dynamo Moscow (3) - SKA St. Petersburg (1) 4-2
The guests from St. Petersburg started with high pressure and had two big scoring opportunities in the first 20 minutes through a wrap-around by Tikhonov and a back hander by Makarov from short distance. In the middle period the guests were finally able to use their dominance when Viktor Tikhonov used a cross-pass to bring SKA in front from short distance! At 33:50 Tony Martensson deflected a blue line shot by Kevin Dallman into the net from short distance to double the lead! Just a minute later Dynamo had a huge opportunity with a blast from a central position but while falling to the ice guest goalie Ilya Ezhov made a spectacular stick save. The thirdd period began with a big bang. Dominik Granak only needed 17 seconds to use a rebound for the 1-2! A very fast and open match with multiple big chances on both sides developed. One of these opportunities was used by Alexei Tsvetkov whose shot from short distance went into the middle of th net where it hit a pole and came back immidiately so that the referees decided to let the play continue. After a video review the home side was awarded the equalizer though. The two teams continued with a lot of offense while SKA had the better opportunities but the luck was not on their side. With just 7 (!) seconds left in regulation a powerful blue line shot by Andrei Mironov came to Alexei Kasyanchuk who waited close to the right post and scored into the wide open net against the already beaten Ezhov to score the extremly late game winner for Dynamo! With just one second left on the clock Yuri Babenko even added an empty netter to finish a great race to catch up by the home side.
With a win in game #4 Dynamo Moscow now have the chance to get a sweep against SKA tomorrow in front of their own fans and qualify for the Gagarin Cup finals already - just as last year when they also won 4 games to 0 against SKA in the third round of the playoffs.
Dynamo lead 3-0 in the series
