26 Mar 2013 | Dennis Mende
While Köln, Krefeld and Wolfsburg all earned their third win in their best-of-seven series, Berlin made it 2-2 with an overtime win in Hamburg.
DEL playoff quarterfinals, game 4
Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg (10) - Adler Mannheim (1) 3-0
The series is getting out of controll for regular season winners Mannheim. Another weak performance cost them also game #4 and puts them just one defeat away from a first round exit against the clear outsiders from Wolfsburg. Aleksander Polaczek in power play, Tyler Haskins and Greg Moore - with an empty netter - were the goal scorers for the home side Grizzly Adams while the guests from Mannheim failed to score even a single goal. With 27 saves Wolfsburg goalie Daniar Dshunussow earned a shutout - his second in a row after Sunday's 1-0 win by his team.
Wolfsburg lead 3-1 in the series
Straubing Tigers (9) - Kölner Haie (2) 3-6
A great second period comeback in front of almost 6,000 fans in Straubing leave guests Kölner Haie just one win away from reaching the playoff semifinals. Despite an early goal against through Sebastian Osterloh at 06:00 Haie players Nathan Robinson (2), Chris Minard and Marcel Ohman made it 4-1 for the guests even before the second intermission. At the start of the last 20 minutes Felix Schütz made it a hand full for Köln before Dustin Whitecotton and Florian Ondruschka brought a little hope back for the home fans. In the end an empty netter by Alexander Weiß made everything clear in favour of the favourites from Western Germany.
Köln lead 3-1 in the series
ERC Ingolstadt (6) - Krefeld Pinguine (3) 2-5
This evening Krefeld were always a step ahead of their opponents when they travelled to Ingolstadt and defeated the local ERC with 5-2. Patrick Hager and Thomas Greilinger tied the match twice for the hosts after the Krefeld lead through Andreas Driendl and Herberts Vasiljevs. At 38:34 it was again Latvian forward Vasiljevs who scored the game winner for Krefeld. Boris Blank and Martin Schymainski - empty netter - made everything clear for the guests who now need just one more win to qualify for the next round of the playoffs.

Hamburg Freezers (5) - Eisbären Berlin (4) 2-3 OT
Just one day after a historic 4-8 defeat - never before had Berlin received so many goals against in one playoff game in their DEL history - the league's record champions Eisbären gave the right answer to win in Hamburg in overtime for an even series after four matches. Brandon Reid and David Wolf twice opened the score for Hamburg but TJ Mulock and Julian Talbot tied the match even before the second intermission. Two periods without a single goal followed before Julian Talbot was the game winner for the guests from Berlin with his overtime strike at 65:21 in power play.
