Skellefteå first team to final
05 Apr 2013 | Fredrik Pålsson
After five straight 2-2 games decided in overtime Skellefteå won 3-1 in game five and is the first team to reach the final in Sweden.
Skellefteå won the semi final series against Linköping 4-1. Today's game in Skellefteå ended with a 3-1 win for the home team after a powerful performance.
Oscar Möller gave Skellefteå the lead with a late goal in the first period. When the teams came out for the second period Skellefteå took over the game completely but as so many times before in this semi final series Skellefteå failed to take advantage of their advantage and Linköping tied the game on one of their four shots in the period.
The 1-1 goal was scored by Linköping's top scorer Pär Arlbrandt on the power play. Skellefteå had 17 shots on goal in the period but Christrian Engstrand saved them all.
But the game winning goal came in the third period instead, scored by Petter Emanuelsson with eight minutes left to play. A beautiful goal after some nice dekes by the young forward. As all the previous games has finished 2-2 at regular time everyone was waiting for another Linköping goal but with three minutes left Jimmie Ericsson took SAIK to the finals with his 3-1 goal.
Tomorrow Luleå has the chance to qualify for the finals if they beat Färjestad away.
