With sweeps Eisbären Berlin (against Krefeld) and Kölner Haie (against Wolfsburg) have decided their semifinal series in just three games. Now the two teams will face each other in the finals.
DEL playoff semifinals, day 3
Kölner Haie (2) - Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg (10) 4-2
In game #3 of the series Wolfsburg stayed once more chanceless and couldn't avoid the sweep through home side Cologne. In front of 18,287 fans in an almost sold out Lanxess Arena the Sharks pathed the way for their win with two power play goals through Daniel Tjärnqvist and Philipp Gogulla before Nathan Robinson and Charlie Stephens made everything clear for them already in the second period. Adrian Grygiel and Levi Nelson only were able to make the result look a bit more friendly for Wolfsburg.
Köln won the series 3-0
Krefeld Pinguine (3) - Eisbären Berlin (4) 3-4
More than 8,000 fans came to see the match between Krefeld and Berlin which turned out to be the last one of this semifinal series. Frank Hördler and Barry Tallackson brought the guests from the capital in front with two first period goals but Krefeld were able to tied the match within the middle period. Jenx Baxmann and Florian Busch again made it a two goal lead for Berlin and this time the DEL record champions were able to defend it as Krefeld team captain Herberts Vasiljevs only was able to make it 3-4 with a shorthander at the start of the third period. For Berlin it is already the third consecutive time they make it to the DEL finals and they have won in the previous two occasions against Düsseldorf and Mannheim.
Berlin won the series 3-0
The DEL finals will start next Sunday (14 April) with game #1 in Cologne.
