After a final drama of seven games the Vojens based team won their first title since 2010.
SønderjyskE is Danish champions after beating Frederikshavn in a dramatic final. The best of seven final went to seven games and the seventh game was scoreless for over 76 minutes before defender Tyler Gotto scored the championship winner for SønderjyskE.
“I had just come onto the ice and saw space between both hash marks. Hooton delivered the puck perfectly
from the corner and my only aim was to get the puck on net. With
everyone being extra cautious I only intended to put some pressure on
their goalie... and then it flew in and it was pure joy", Gotto told IIHF.com
SønderjyskE went into the playoffs as fourth seeded but improved to grab the title in a final series with three overtime games. The last final saw the home team Frederikshavn dominating the match but they just couldn't score and instead Gotto became the hero for SønderjyskE.
