France and Germany finished their World Championships 2013 in a meaningless game in Helsinki. When Slovakia beat USA there was no chance left for Germany to get into the quarters. However they managed to beat France by 3-2 in OT.
Both teams offered very entertaining and also hard hitting game. With no meaning regarding the result both teams played offence minded and that brought plenty of scoring chances for both teams. Despite many scoring chances and also some power plays only few goals were scored. This because of solid goalkeeping by Cristobal Huet and Rob Zepp but also because of lack of certain grittiness in front of the net by players.
Christian Ehrhoff scored twice with his hard shot. Second one came 1.05 into the overtime and decided the game. With a win Germany finished on the fifth place in Helsinki group. France finished seventh ony Austria behind them.
