Two clubs in Poland and Slovakia experienced serious economic problems
Professional hockey died today in Sosnowiec. With a short announcement Zaglebie Sosnowiec announced the dissolution of the club due to lack of funds
The hockey in the city will existed with amateur UKS Sielec, which will continue to deal with juniors players and youth department of Zaglebie.There are possibilities that UKS Sielec could get in Poland Second League from 2014-15 season.
According to website www.sportowezaglebie.pl there is a possibility that former President and Board of Directors of Zaglebie Sosnowiec will be charged with a possible crime of financial matters.
Zaglebie Sosnowiec was founded in 1937 and lived its golden era in the eighties when won five Polish Leagues in six years (1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1985), the only titles in the club history.
Also in neighbourhood Slovakia a team is on the verge of bankrupt: Hk Spisska Nova Ves, playing in Slovak 2nd League, interrupted preparation and cancelled preparation matches.
"The situation of the club and especially of main team is anything but good." - said team manager Michal Teplice - Last week we have canceled a pre-season game with Liptovsky Mikulas and now we decided not to play any other.The trainings for the preparation of the new season are canceled.
