At home in Omsk arena the junior team of KHL's Avangard Omsk won the final of the Junior Club World Cup 2-0 against the Finnish side HPK Hämeenlinna.
Also the third edition of the Junior Club World Cup was played in Omsk, but this time with the home team on top. Last year's champion Sudbury Wolvesof Ontario Hockey League participated also this year but finnished sixth after losing to Dinamo-Shinnik Bobruisk and HPK Hämeenlinna in the group stage.
In the final against HPK Kirill Semyonov opened the scoring at 13:26 on a penalty shot. The second goal was scored at the 32-minute mark by Ivan Fishchenko. At that time the Hawks were playing short-handed. HPK pulled it's goalie Joonas Toivonen at 55:20 but the Finnish forwards couldn't score on Denis Kostin in the Russian net.
Kostin earned a shutout also in the semi final when Omsk beat the Belarusian team Dinamo-Shinnik Bobruisk 3-0. In the other semi final HPK beat the American USHL team Dubuque Fighting Saints 3-2. Dubuque was the only team to beat Omsk when they won 6-4 in the last game of the group stage.
The game for the fifth place was won by HK Riga of Latvia who got a 3-2 win over Sudbury Wolves.
Swedish Frölunda avoided the last place when they beat Czech Vitkovice in the game for the seventh place.

Top scorer (5+3) and top goal scorer of the tournament was Omsk's Maxim Kazakov. Robin Söderquist of Frölunda was second with seven points (3+4).
