Former defender will lead Ukraine at IHWC Division Ib in Hungary
The Executive Committee of the Ice Hockey Federation of Ukraine appointed 41-year-old Andrei Savchenko as head coach of Ukraine U18 national team.
"We had no complaints about the previous coaching staff, the team completed its task under the direction of Alexander Savitsky. However, at this stage, in our opinion, the best candidate for vacancy is Andrey Savchenko. Andrei is considered one of the best junior's coaches of Ukraine and in the last years has worked with hockey players of the current U18 team"- said the President of the Federation Anatoly Brezvin.
"I'm very proud to work with the junior team. For me, this team is not new. I lead the boys born in 1996-1997 many times at prestigious international competitions, including the Pee Wee Tournament in Quebec. I am sure that the Ukrainian team has bright perspectives"- said the new head coach.
Ukraine U18 will compete in Division IB next April in Hungary, facing Hungary, Slovenia, Japan, Austria and Poland.
