Ambri in top of the chain
Who would have thought that before the season starts Ambri-Piotta would be first after 17 games?; Rising star Lukas Meili get's big; Geneva does the job at home;
Ambri 5
Davos 2
Who
would have thought that before the season starts Ambri-Piotta would
be first after 17 games? Probably nobody. After the game against
Davos, experts are starting to see Ambri has a real candidate for a
place in top 8. In Swiss, teams need at least 68 points pour a
play-off spot. Like Geneva and Kloten the last two seasons, one big
team would be out of play-offs. For the moment defending champions
Bern, also Lugano and Zug are in trouble.
So, the
signs are good that Ambri for the first time since 2006 will make it.
The Valascia stadium is already rocking just by thinking an eventual
place in top 8.
Although Davos scored by the Scandinavians Marcus Paulsson and Ville
Koistinen twice, it was clearly not enough. Alexandre Giroux(two goals
and one assist) and Nolan Schaefer(34 saves) led Ambri to a huge
victory.
Biel 2 Kloten 1
In the
game between Biel and Kloten goalies were the focus . Biel won 2-1,
the Canadians Ryan MacMurchy and Eric Beaudoin scored the goals Biel
.
Berra
isn't there anymore? No problem. Young rising star Lukas Meili is at
Ice Stadium to save the situation. The 21 year-old goalie from Biel
won his match up against Martin Gerber, one of the World Cup
heroes from last spring in Stockholm. Lukas Meili(39 saves) wasn't
far(128 seconds) from the third shutout of the season. And what is
the prize for the great exhibitions? You get to play for Swiss
team. In the same day the young goalie received the good news, he
will play the Deutschland cup between 8 and 10 November. In interview
to newspaper « journal du jura » Martin Steinegger the GM
from Biel had mixed emotions : « it's great and I'm happy
for him, but I never saw in Swiss a kid with 30 games between the pipes
being called to play in National team, I think it's too soon »
Geneva 3
Lugano 0
It
wasn't a great game between Geneva and Lugano, but home team did more
then enough to win the hockey game. None of teams take a big risk to
win the game and booth teams played well in neutral zone, the most
part of shots came out from long distance. The goalies, Stephan(33
saves) and Manzato(33 saves) made a very good game.
