Ice hockey is a sport with a lot of feelings but what you don't see so often is a crying coach at a press conference but in Sweden it happened last week.
SHL is back again after the international break and had an interesting week with the game between MODO and Skellefteå. Skellefteå won the game 3-0 and now leads the league with nine points ahead of Frölunda. But it wasn't the result that was the most interesting with the game but the feelings around it.
Last season Anders Forsberg was sacked by Skellefteå during the regular season despite leading the league. The reason was that he during last season signed a contract with MODO for this season and that he tried to making players join him in the move. Now being coach of Modo Forsberg has denied any attempts to sign players to MODO before he lefte Skellefteå. That made Skellefteå even more upset and at the post game press conference Skellefteå's assistant coach Bert Robertsson was in tears, claiming to be very hurt that he and the club was called liers.
Despite the loss MODO has climbed to third place in the standings and together with Frölunda and Leksand are the teams with best form with the exception for Skellefteå who has been in their own class the entire season. But even if the team has been in good form last season's top scorer Bud Holloway hasn't but last week he at least scored his first goal of the season in the 4-3 win againt Linköping his 20th game of the season.
For MODO the key has been great goaltending by the young duo Ullmark and Forsberg with over 94 and 93 % saves. For Leksand defender Patrik Hersley had a fantastic week as he scored the game winning goal against Färjestad, the only goal against AIK and all Leksand's three goals in the 3-2 win away to Örebro. Hersley now has a total of 13 goals second best of all players in the league.
Luleå's Linus Klasen and Linköping's Pär Arlbandt is tied top scorers this season with 31 points each. Their teams are a bit up and down with Luleå in fifth place and Linköping in eight. Only seven points on away ice is the big problem for Linköping. They have scored a lot of goals but also conceded a lot of goals but today they announced a new goalie in Finnish Iiro Tarki.
In the bottom Färjestad and HV71 finally has started taking some points and now as HV71 won all three games last week and Färjestad two out of three finishing the week with a strong 6-2 win away to Brynäs who suffered from many injuries.
In the bottom is now perhaps the two most expected teams AIK and Örebro. Örebro had a flying start to the season but is now last after losing eleven consecutive games (four of them after shootout or overtime).
