Eurohockey.com takes a quick look at the latest developments in SHL, Sweden's top league.
Skellefteå continues to dominate the Swedish Hockey League and now leads the league 11 points ahead of Frölunda. Even if they conceded six goals away to Brynäs and lost after overtime they finished the week in style with two strong wins 4-1 away to Örebro and 5-2 at home versus MoDo. MoDo who is third 17 points behind MoDo.
Even if Frölunda surprisingly lost at home to AIK on Saturday they are still in second place. The loss was bad in two ways as also Niklas Lasu was injured and will be out action for about six weeks.
Behind Skellefteå and Frölunda the league is very even with eight teams within nine points. Brynäs is climbing the standings again after a weak period with a lot injures and are now fourth, much thanks to four players within top ten in scoring. Andreas Thuresson is one them and he had an impressive 3+2 in the win against Skellefteå.
Färjestad and HV71 are showing better form after bad starts but are still down in eighth and tenth. Linköping are having problems despite two of the best forwards in the league, Pär Arlbrandt and Simon Hjalmarsson. Arlbrandt is tied top point scorer with Luleå's Linus Klasen while Hjalmarsson is tied top goal scorer with Leksand's defender Patrik Hersley who has been hot in November with seven goals, four of them game winning.
AIK and Örebro seem stuck in the bottom even if AIK's victory away to Frölunda was strong and took them closer to HV71. New coach Kent Johansson hasn't been able to help Örebro and has started with three losses even if two of them were after overtime.
