Bochenski, Dawes brilliant as Barys sinks Amur

Brandon Bochenski and Nigels Dawes showed magnificent performance on the offense and helped Barys rally over Amur 8:2, SKA loses at home versus Salavat Yulaev, Jakub Klepis wins the game in the shootout for Lev in Riga.

 
 
 
 

Barys - Amur 8:2

Barys were able to pull off another huge victory, the second best after smashing Severstal in September 10:1. Brandon Bochenski led the scoring for the home side as he scored twice and added three assists. Nigel Dawes had a hattrick and an assist right behind him.

Every part of Barys' team worked perfectly and they stunned Amur early on, but they were able to finish the first period in a deficit of only a goal 2:1.

The second period turned the game around. In only 4 minutes, Dmitry Upper and Nigel Dawes were able to get the comfortable lead, then Bochenski scored shorthanded and Evgeny Blokhin added another one at 35:12 to build a mountain in front of Amur and totally demoralize them.

Lundin and Dawes added one each in the third while Dmitry Lugin was able to score late in the period just to have his teammates feel better, though it couldn't affect the outcome of the game.

Ari Ahonen stopped 33 shots out of 35, and stood strong at 94.3 SVS%. Alexei Murygin in net for Amur was changed after the fourth goal, having conceeded on 13 shots and had a terrible 10.01 goals against average.

Kaigorodov, Salavat win in Saint Petersburg

Alexei Kaigorodov scores shorthanded at 35:59 in the assist from Brent Sopel to give Salavat a 2:0 lead in St. Petersburgh and aid his team to a valuable win, while leaving SKA six points behind the leader Dynamo Moscow.

Vladimir Sokhatsky missed his first shutout of the season by exactly 2:05, Dmitry Kalinin managed to slide the puck behind his back to cut the lead late in the period. Though it didn't alter the upshot, with another score coming from Igor Mironov to open the scoring at 27:37 Salavat skated to a victory which puts them in a battle with Metallurg Magnitogorsk for third seed in the East.

SKA's superstar Ilya Kovalchuk was left without a point again, but managed to get 12 minutes of penalties for roughing in the second period, just four minutes before Salavat won the game.

Klepis helps Lev get 2nd point

After a scoreless first period, Marcel Hossa opens the scoring in Riga at 24:01 as Sandis Ozolins records an assist on the play.

Defense and both netminders were effective as they could be stopping a whole lot of shots before Ondrej Nemec was able to tie the game late in the third. Nemec scored his first goal of the season, but it's a valuable one.

Pettri Vehanen stood strong during the game saving 19 of 20 shots and having recorded 95 SVS%. He continued in the same manner taking down Aleksandrs Nizivijs and Miks Indrasis in the shootout.

Both Martin Thornberg and Jakub Klepis scored for Lev, so the series was over after only two rounds, but the latter got the game-winner. Lev kept Tellqvist busier between the pipes as he had to make 30 saves on 31 shots.

Around the rinks

Avangard continue to roll as they beat Admiral 4:1 on home ice. Alexander Perezhogin opened and closed the scoring at 12:48 and 52:48 respectively. Anton Kuryanov and Sergei Kalinin scored the other goals.

Yugra skates to a win at home in a game marred by penalties. Mikhail Tyulyapkin and Veli-Matti Salvinainen scored for the home side.

Fyodor Malikhin scores a double and Jakub Kovar closes door as Avtomobilist prevail over Metallurg Novokuznetsk. Kovar stopped all 23 shots. Anton Lazarev finished with two assists.
