Kloten and Bern trying to climb up the ladder in the standings
In front of a half-filled Schluefweg-Arena (4'767), Lausanne HC,
currently not placed on a Play-Off spot visited the Kloten Flyers
for the 39th round of the Swiss National League A.
In goal for the still injured Martin Gerber was Michael Flückiger
who played his 4th game of the season and was lucky the puck hit the
goal post just 2 minutes into the game.
With the game going back and forth, it was Matthias Bieber in the
7th minute who faced goalie Christophe Bays but his shot was
reflected and went out of the game. The second half of period one
still didn't see any goals but shots fired on both sides. Then while
Kloten was playing with a one-man advantage it was Romano Lemm with
his 5th goal of the season in the 16th minute to give Kloten the
lead. With a bit more than 3 minutes to play, Lausanne got their
chance to score on a powerplay but couldn't get on the scoreboard
yet. It was then Philip Schelling again with his second minor of the
evening (one for hooking, the other for interference) giving
Lausanne a chance to start the 2nd period with the advantage.
Lausanne wasn't able to capitalise on their powerplay and so the 2
minutes passed away with the game still going back and forth.
Klotens Goalie Flückiger didn't always look good, giving away to
many easy rebounds on the first shot but the romands couldn't score
on the secondary chances. With 8 minutes to go in the second period
Kloten tried to score their second goal of the evening, Bieber with
a solo only got the goal post on a first shot though. The powerplay
formation worked well, created a handful of good chances but in the
end, the result remaind the same.
The rest of the period wasn't the expected firework the fans had
expected and that's how the 2nd period ended goalless.
With less than a minute played in the last period it was austrian
eagle Oliver Setzinger who stole the puck from the apparently still
sleepling Flyers in their own Zone and got Lausanne on the
scoreboard for the first time this evening. 8 Minutes were played
when Johan Morant took place on the bench for 2 minutes + 10' for
roughing. Again, the powerplay worked well with Kloten but in the
end only a pair of shots resulted from the advantage. But that
shouldn't be it for the Flyers as they were awarded another
powerplay, this time it was Ralph Stalder who sat down for slashing.
This time Kloten had more trouble creating chances and again, didnt'
score. With the minutes counting down, both Teams became nervous,
loosing pucks in their own Zone, relying on their goaltenders. With
8 seconds to go, Lausanne took a time-out and played the face-off in
the Flyers Zone but the regulation ended 1:1. A 4 on 4 overtime and
eventual shoot-out would have to decide today's winner.
With less than 2 minutes to go, it was Captain Victor Stancescu who
scored the OT winner which gives Kloten 2 points, 1 point goes to
Lausanne.
All in all, the game wasn't too attractive, too many mistakes on
both sides, with exeption of both goaltenders who only let 1 shot
passed their goal line during regulation. Both Teams will have to
play better in their next games if they want to succeed.
Kloten Flyers - Lausanne HC 2:1 after OT

EV Zug - SC Bern
1. Period: With only 35 seconds played, Lino Martschini scored the
opening goal and that's how the standing was until 3 minutes before
the first period ended when Flurin Randegger shot the equalizer for
Bern.
Second period, within 4 minutes Byron Ritchie and Michael
Loichat scored goals to put Bern ahead of EV Zug. But less than a
minute later it was Alessio Bertaggia and 2 minutes later Lino
Martschini again who scored and equalised the game 3:3. With a man
advantage it was Zugs Santeri Alatalo with a goal as Zug went into
the 2nd break witha one goal lead.
With Fabian Sutter on the
bench, SC Bern was able to start the 3rd period with a man advantage. 8
seconds were played when Hnat Domenichelli scored a powerplay goal and
equalised the game a third time. It was then Reto Suri who scored the
the game winning goal with only 10 seconds left in regulation to give
Zug 3 points.
