Biel loses against Davos in the holidays

Like in some other games this season - outside of their home, Davos did the minimum to win the game; Fribourg doesn't step out of its car.

Biel 1 Davos 2

Between the pipes for the first time at home this season Simon Rytz would certainly want a different outcome in this game. Indeed, despite the brilliant performance, his teammates in front of him, failed to create a concrete danger to the cage defended by Leonardo Genoni .

EHC Biel started this game the same way he finished his match Tuesday against Rapperwil. Oliver Kamber outset joined the bench infamy for two minutes . An early game not really ideal knowing that Davos display the second most efficient power play in the league with 21.50 % efficiency and the Biel's team lost three points on Tuesday because of their indiscipline at the very end of the game.

Fortunately for Biel fans, Davos didn't manage to score in the first power-play. On the other side and a few minutes later, the two best Biel opportunities in the first period is to the credit of Matthew Tschantré (6th ) and Chris Bourque (10th). Despite a caviar service by Philipp Wetzel, Tschantré didn't score the first goal of the game. Then Chris Bourque  after sumptuous triangulation , initiated by Raphael Herburger and Oliver Kamber didn't score also. After 20 minutes result is 0-0. A punishment for Biel and a prize for Davos.

Davos start to skate

When finally the visiting team put the feet outside the car, the games changes.

Perttu Lindgren and Reto von Arx are punished a few seconds apart at minute 21. For 98 seconds at 5 against 3, home team didn't manage to score and that will wake up Davos's team. After letting the storm pass and played on a wrong pace, Arno del Curto men have kindly took the game to their account. Davos play's five against five has if was a power-play situation, the yellow and blue have monopolized the puck for long minutes. Fortunately for Biel, Simon Rytz delivered a big game and only a goal in his own net by Emanuel Peter managed do fool the home goalie. Cruel to Biel, but entirely fair due to the extreme dominance of visitors during this period.

Gregory Hoffman close the game

It took only 46 seconds in the third period for the home team to score the tie game by Oliver Kamber. One lucky goal and similar to Peter Emanuel purpose, Koistinen contributed to this success by deflecting the puck too into his own net (41st) .

Ultimately, the decision of game came out from Gregory Hofmann hands. The young striker from a closed angle close the game with a dazzling wrist shot that left no chance to Simon Rytz . A few seconds before, Chris Bourque had created a great opportunity but eventually he was stumbled for Leonardo Genoni.

Sunday, EHC Biel will visit his best enemy, the SC Bern, Although mathematically the play-off are still playable, it seems unlikely that Biel come to reverse the trend by the end of the championship and grab a spot in the top 8. But then again, a derby is a derby and usually in Swiss hockey the weaker teams manage to win those games.

Rapperswil 2 Fribourg 1

The Rapperswil-Jona Lakers dominated until the 45th minute with the exception of a seven-minute outnumbered phase at the end of the second period. In only 102 seconds Duri Camichel and Peter Sejna scored the well-deserved goals and pass from 0:0 to 2:0. The two goals were similar: Derrick Walser shot from a long distance, the pucks were deflected and subsequently promoted in the slot of Camichel and Sejna and into the net.

Fribourg  reacted only in the final period. Defender Anthony Huguenin scored after 45th minute the only goal for the visiting team. The soon 36 -year-old former Stanley Cup winner for Colorado and national hero David Aebischer was the MVP of the game with 34 saves, including 14 in the final period. Thanks to Aebischer, Rapperwill are now in a good sequence with four victories in five games.

And Fribourg ? At the beginning of December Fribourg were in the first place tied with the ZSC Lions and eleven games later with four victories and seven defeats,  that first place place seems to be a mirage.
