The European influence continues in South Wales as the Cardiff Devils bring in three more Europeans to their squad
Just a day after signing a new goaltender in Kamil Kosowski the Cardiff Devils have announced three more European players to bolster their injury plagued roster.
The first is no stranger to UK hockey, Jaroslav Cesky joins on a one-game contract according to WalesOnline's Terry Phillips.
The 35 year old Czech winger has spent the last 5 years in the EPIHL, the league below the EIHL and is poised to make his one-game appearance tonight. If he does well it is reported again by Terry Phillips that his move to the Devils could become permanent.
Two more signings were announced today but they won't be ready to play in tonight's league game against the Nottingham Panthers.
First is 29 year old Ukrainian forward Vitali Kirichenko who joins from Kompanion Kiev in Ukraine.
Kirichenko has spent time across Europe, playing in many different countries and has reached 30 points or more in 3 of his last 4 seasons.
In the early 2000's Kirichenko was a regular in the Ukrainian junior set up and was part of the 2002-03 World Juniors team that won the Gold Medal in Division 1A to gain promotion to the top division.
Also joining is Slovenian defenseman Ziga Svete who joins after an impressive spell for Team Jesenice in the Austrian second division.
In 25 games in Austria he registered 21 points and comes onto a Devils team that has struggled defensively through numerous injuries.
Like Kirichenko, Svete has also featured internationally for his country, representing Slovenia at the U18 and U20 level winning Bronze and Silver respectively, as well as playing in the 2009 World Championships for Slovenia where they won silver in Division 1 A.
His most recent accolade comes from 2009-10 during his days with Eaters Geleen in the Dutch league where his 33 points in 44 games was enough to be named the leagues best Defenseman and also win the Dutch Beker Cup.
With Cesky already in Cardiff, Kirichenko and Svete are expected to arrive in South Wales tomorrow and be ready to debut on Sunday night when the Devils travel to Coventry to take on the Blaze.
