Former player passed away at 70
Polish Hockey mourns the loss of Krzysztof Birula-Białynicki, one of the most representative players during the decades of '60 and '70. He played for LKS Lodz from 1962 to 1974 before to move in Italy where he played for Cortina, Diavoli Milano and Brunico. In the Polish league he played 327 matches scoring 287 goals (league top scorer in 1967). Earned 118 caps for Poland National Team (1965-1973), scoring 50 goals, taking part in 7 World Championships and at Olympics in Sapporo. Left winger, Birula-Białynicki is remembered as a well technically trained, fast player with exceptional harmony of movements on ice, boasting a good shot. He possessed a special ability of winning duels with defenders, avoiding clashes with them.
