Do you know:

•   Slovenia will be competing in its first Olympic men's ice hockey tournament.
•   The most experienced campaigners on Russia's squad are forwards Ilya Kovalchuk and Pavel Datsyuk, who are competing in their fourth Olympic Winter Games. Alexander Ovechkin, Yevgeni Malkin, Andrei Markov, and Fyodor Tyutin will also be participating in their third Winter Olympic Games.
•   Russia Aleksander Ovechkin leads the NHL in goal scoring with 40 goals in 55 games, nine more than runner-up Phil Kessel
•   Anze Kopitar is Slovenia’s lone NHL player. His father, Matjaz Kopitar, is Slovenia’s head coach. Jan Mursak plays in Russia’s Kontinental Hockey League for CSKA Moscow.
•   Russia is making its sixth appearance in the men's ice hockey tournament as an independent NOC. It has won silver and bronze since it first appeared in 1994, but has yet to win the gold.
•   Nine players on the Russian squad play their club hockey in the KHL. The rest play in the NHL.
•   Russia and Slovenia have met twice at the World Championship, in 2002 and 2011 with the Russians winning both games 8-1 and 6-4
