A night of shutouts in SHL
26 Feb 2014 | Fredrik Pålsson
Three shutouts when the Swedish SHL's first round after the Olympic break was finished.
In the first three games after the Olympic break played yesterday we saw many goals and all games went to overtime with wins for Växjö, Färjestad and Linköping. Today it was a different story with three goalies recording shutouts.
Örebro took the last chance of reaching the playoff with 6-0 at home to second placed Frölunda. Tim Sandberg made 32 saves for the shutout and Örebro's new Finn Ville Viitaluoma made a success with a hat trick.
With five rounds left Örebro is now 11 points behind HV71 who lost 0-3 at home to Luleå where David Rautio only had to make 19 saves for his shutout.
The derby between Leksand and Brynäs only had one goal. Jacob Blomqvist got the game winner halfway through the game scoring on a 5 on 3 power play. Oscar Alsenfeldt had a busy night and did 37 saves in his shutout win.
