Brasov traveled to Nové Zámky for game one of the MOL League final series.
Erik Caladi put the home team up 1-0 on an even strength goal with Peter Polcik and Martin Uhnák getting the assists. Towards the end of the period Brasov scored their first goal of the game as Roberto Gliga put the puck past Nové Zámky goalkeeper Jan Chovan.
The third period brought only one goal as Róbert Péter scored at 29:25 to give the visitors their first lead of the game. The score remained 2-1 through the rest of the second period, however 15 seconds into the third period an Albin Podstavek shot tied the game up at 2-2. Late on in the period Vladimir Kames gave the lead back to Nové Zámky on a power play goal as Roberto Gliga sat in the penalty box. With the Brasov keeper pulled Erik Weissmann made it 4-2 to give the home team a 1-0 series lead.
“We were the better team in the second period,” said Brasov defenceman Juha Hietamäki. “Nové Zámky is more experienced and they use their changes well, tomorrow is new challenge to us and I believe that tomorrow the series will turn in our favor.”
The two teams will be back at it Tuesday night with Nové Zámky having a chance at making it a two games to zero lead.
