Yesterday the women's World Championship Division IA started in Prerov, Czech Republic. Czech Republic, Norway and Denmark won on the opening day.
Since 2014 is an Olympic year there is no elite division of the Women's World Championship played and Division IA is the highest level played.
Last year Czech Republic was relegated from the top division and now aim to return. They got an expected win against France who is new from Division IB in the first game. Aneta Tejralova, Vendula Pribulova and Dominika Laskova scored in the 3-0 win.
Norway beat Slovakia 6-3 after two goals each by Ingvild Farstad and Andrea Dalen. Here are comments from Norwegian coach Arne Billkvam and Ingvild Farstad.
Austria was ahead for most of the game against Denmark but a late equalizer by Malene Frandsen took the game to overtime. At 63:57 Josefine Persson decided the game 5-4 for Denmark with her fourth (!) goal of the game.
