Russia’s redemption tour starts with a win

Switzerland's goal slump continues as the Russians roll over with a 5:0 win
In the last 3 games the Swiss had only managed to score one goal, a fact
that had haunted the Swiss through out their Olympic campaign. And it
continued with 13 seconds played when Sergei Plotnikov scored a first
time.

Plotnikov scores 1-0 at 13 seconds.

It seemed the Swiss had a hard time finding a way to get the puck into the
offensive zone through the whole game. 7 minutes were played when the Russians got a chance to
play with a man advantage and it didn't take Russian forward Alexander Ovechkin long to score the 2nd goal of the evening and to make things
for the Swiss worse, Vadim Shipachyov decided the game with the 3rd goal
with 18 minutes played.
The story of the middle period was quickly
told, Anton Belov's goal at halftime was just about it. A last goal by
Danis Zaripov in the last minute of the game secured the first 3 points
for Russia while Switzerland now hasn't scored a goal in over 240 minutes
which seems like eternity. But not everything was bad, the shots on goal
was close to even but the Swiss simply lack a strong scorer. It won't get
easier tomorrow, when the USA await the Swiss.
