With a lot of help from 13,734 fans in Minsk Arena Belarus defeated Kazakhstan 4-1.
It was a big game for the Belorussian players. In the sold out home arena they were determined to beat Kazakhstan in this crucial game. However, it didn't start according to the plan. It took 4:12 for Kazakhstan to take the lead when Andrei Gavrilin beat Vitaly Koval for the first and only time of the game.
The score was still 1-0 after the first period but in the opening of the second Andrei Stepanov tied it. Nikola Stasenko took the home side ahead seconds after the 30-minute mark.
Former NHL player Sergei Kostitsyn made it 3-1 in the beginning of period three with a shorthanded goal and four seconds before full time Alexei Kalyuzhny added a fourth goal for Belarus.
When all teams but two in Group B have played two games only Finland and Switzerland remain without any points.
