SHL started yesterday with a win for Luleå against Skellefteå. Today's winners in Sweden were Frölunda, Växjö, Färjestad and Örebro.
Frölunda HC - Brynäs IF 4 - 0 (1-0, 1-0, 2-0)
Frölunda got a comfortable 4-0 win over Brynäs in its first SHL game in 2014/2015. Linus Fernström in the home net only faced thirteen shots. It was the newcomers that took Frölunda ahead. Mattias Janmark scored 1-0 in the first period and Artturi Lehkonen 2-0 in the second. In the first part of the third period Mikael Vikstrand and Christoffer Persson doubled the lead.
"We show huge desire and creativity in the offense that I'm very happy with", said Frölunda's head coach Roger Rönnberg to C More after the game.
Växjö Lakers HC - HV 71 2 - 0 (0-0, 1-0, 1-0)
The man of the match in VIDA Arena tonight was Liam Reddox. He scored both goals of the game. His first was a shorthanded goal at 22 minutes and the second was a well placed shot behind Gustaf Wesslau in the third period. Växjö played with Stefan Steen in the net. A good choice as he saved all 17 shots.
"Reddox has been here for a long time now", says Växjö coach Sam Hallam to C More. "He is great in boxplay. If he also continues to score he will be very dangerous".
MODO Hockey - Örebro HK 1 - 3 (0-0, 1-2, 0-1)
Örebro got a great start of the season with an away win in Örnsköldsvik. MODO was the best team during the first half of the game and also got a penalty shot in the 32nd minute that Victor Olofsson missed. A minute later Örebro got the first goal of the game when Derek Ryan beat Linus Ullmark. Victor Olofsson tied it at 35:23 but Ville Viitaluoma restored the Örebro lead with a half minute remaining of the second period. Four minutes before the end Tomas Skogs secured the win with a powerful shot from the blue-line.
Leksands IF - Färjestads BK 1 - 2 (1-0, 0-0, 0-2)
Veli-Matti Savinainen scored 1-0 for Leksand in the 17th minute on a 2-man advantage. The lead lasted until 51:25 when Martin Røymark tied it. With a little luch Färjestad got the winning goal 57 seconds before the end. Joakim Nygård's shot hit former Färjestad player Jonas Frögren's skate to beat Oscar Alsenfelt in the net.
