Klotenn Flyers hand over last spot to the Lakers, Davos and ZSC Lions ahead of everyone else.
For the Kloten Flyers the time of holding the last spot has found an
end, for now. After loosing 3:0 to EV Zug on Friday the Flyers were able
to keep 3 points at home against
2nd last Rapperswil-Jona (3:2) who now find themselves dead last. It
didn't look like a win for the Flyers who trailed the Lakers 2:0 but
were able to turn the game with 3 unanswered goals.
Meanwhile a few kilometres further west, the Lions have won the last 3
games and 8 out of 11 games in total. The latest victims of the Zurich
Lion were Rapperswil-Jona (6:4) and Lausanne HC (2:0.
In Davos, coach Arno del Curto's team is on a streak, winning the last 8
games and leaving home ice as winner in every game so far. 44 goals in 9
games and only 18 received are a strong statement and it seems that del
Curto either delayed the generational change for another season or two,
or has already initiated it and is moving on fast.
Zug finds itself in 4th place and is slowly climbing up the standings
with wins over Kloten and 3rd placed rival HC Lugano who also is in a
remarkable shape throughout the first 1 month of the new season.
Davos will get a chance to take the first spot in the NLA on Friday as
the Champions Hockey League will play their last preliminary rounds on
Tuesday and Wednesday and the Lions pick up the League on Saturday.
