Penguins blanked Trappers
Fischtown Penguins earn three poiints more and then wait Belfast for decisive game
In a
beautiful atmosphere at the Bremerhaven Arena, host Fischtown Penguins face
Tilburg Trappers aware that only a win would remain in the wake of the Giants.
The game is certainly the best so far in the first period with both teams with
several chances to score. Fischtown align Brett Jaeger between the pipe and
Canadian goalie has to work on the fast counter attacks of Tilburg, even if Dutch forwards aren’t very accurate
when shooting. Tilburg play very well defensively during a power play and the
period ends scoreless.
Also the
second period flows with fast actions from both side until the key moment: with
Pawel Dronia in the sinbin, Jaroslav Hafenrichter takes advantage of a mistake
in Tilburg defense and opens the score
with an accurate shot under the bar. In the following power play Jan Kopecky
hits the post and Bredan Cook scores the second goal with a well prepared penetration
in Tilburg defense. At 37 also Jaeger’s cage rings after the post hit by Tilburg.
The period ends with a 5vs3 situation for Fischtown with Jan Kopecky scoring
the third goal after taking aim landing the puck in Meierdres cage.
After 45
seconds in the third period Smid hits the second post for Tilburg but the last
20 minutes are the worst part of the match because both teams are nervous and
especially Tilburg frustrated for the number of chances created but not
finalized. Again on power play, the major limit for the Dutch, Brendan Cook
finds the net at 46:38. At 50 Bremerhaven suffered two penalties but Tilburg attempts
crashing out on Jaeger, very reactive on Willemse. At 53:00 Ryan Martinelli plays
the role of avenger on Kris Hoog and takes two minutes among the cheers of fans.
Fischtown closed the game surviving two power play and giving Brett Jaeger a deserved
shoot-out. Tomorrow Bremenhaven and Belfast will play the expected final to
decide who will fly to semifinals.
MVP: Marian Dejdar - Jurryt Smid
