Herzog was the hero at Bern; Biel stop's Fribourg pace; Genève get's three points at Lausanne;
SC Bern 3-4 Zug (SO)
Huge game between two top-five teams at Bern. With eight victories in the last ten games the home team wanted to keep the good pace in the league. And specially hopped for Zug to continue his little struggle after the huge defeat(1-7) at home against Lugano. But this was a completely different game and was Zug to open the score by by youngster Lino Martschini assisted by swedish blueliner Daniel Sondell. One minute later Zug made the second by Maple Leafs prospect Fabrice Herzog assisted by Robin Grossmann. Between two teams that easily score goal was no surprise to see Bern score by Loichat before the first period end. In a shorthander situation Herzog would score his second goal in the game and the third for Zug. Minnesota Wild prospect Christoph Bertschy score the second goal for home team and keep the hopes alive for Guy Boucher's boys. And Byron Ritchie four minutes later score the third. Bern was more then ever in the game. Zug win the penalty shootout.
Biel 3-2 Fribourg (OT)
Better with the change of the coach, Fribourg wanted to keep the good level in order to proceed the dream to participate in play-off. Like all games this season at home Biel started faster than the opponent but wasn't very able to profit the chances to score. Contrary to the beginning of the season were Biel had the best power-play in the league the things are slightly more complicated. The main reason seems to be the adjustment that the teams made to the pair Arlbrandt-Olausson. Because Fribourg's coach know's well Biel(he's the former assistant coach), he find the right antidote to stop Biel's incursions in visiting team camp. So was no surprise to see the game without goals in the first 20 minutes. The first goal of the game would after an individual play by Dragan Umicevic when the team played in power-play situation. Before the the second period ended Biel score one more time after a confused play near Benjamin Conz. Oliver Kamber scored assisted by Dragan Umicevic. In a last forcing Fribourg scored two goals in less then two minutes first by Tibault Monnnet and then by Marc-Antoine Pouliot. Finally Biel win in overtime with a goal by Gaetan Haas.
Lausanne 1-4 Genève
Genève had a huge motivation for the derby, not just because they played the main rival but wanted to stay in front of Lausanne on standing. And couldn't wish for better start than a very early goal. Alexandre Picard was assisted by Juraj Simek. The second goal for the visiting team was scored by Daniel Rubin already in the second period. The game was turning well for Genève. More two goals in the second period for each side first Florian Conz for Lausanne and then Picard scored his second goal in the game. In shorthander situation Kevin Romy ended with Lausanne's hope in the third period.
