The second period proved to be a real goal festival and in the end, Russian KHL representative Ufa was able to win in their second game.
In the afternoon game two KHL opponents met as Helsinki faced
yesterdays loser Ufa.
Helsinki didn't fool around too long when Etu Pöysti, assisted by
Niko Kapanen scored after 16 seconds. But Ufa had the quick answer
with a little more than 2 minutes it was Alexey Glukhov who was
assisted by Alexandr Kutuzov and Anton Slepyshev to get the
equalizer.
Eleven minutes were played when Ufa got their first lead in a game
as Antti Pihlström scored on the Ufa goalie. Vishnevsky and Zubarev
had the assist on the second goal. The intensity didn't get any lower
during the remaining minutes of the first period as Helsinki fired
shots on Leland Irving, trying to get the equalizer.
The second period started very fast once again but no goals were
scored during the first minutes, nonetheless both goalies had both
hands full to keep their net clean. But around halftime of the game,
all defensive walls broke lose when Antti Pihlström scored his
second goal of the game. But less than a minute later it was
Helsinki's Linus Omark who got the second goal for Jokerit. The goal
festival continued as Teemu Hartikainen got the 4th goal for Ufa,
assisted by his countryman Ilkka Heikkinen in the 31st minute. The
tempo of the game didn't slow down but no further goals were scored
in the remaining 9 minutes of the middle period.
The final period started with a powerplay for Jokerit. Linus Omark
with a nice lob on Irving scored his second goal today and so the
score was 4-3 for Ufa. Steve Moses had a handful of great
opportunities but wasn't able to capitalize on his chances in the
remaining minutes of the third period. Jokerit didn't pull their
goalie in the final minutes but still had chances. Ufa's defense
kept the puck away from Irving as good as they could and held on to
the 4-3 score.
