The new hero comes from Slovakia

Denis Godla arrived in Canada as an obscure goalie for most of hockey fans, with some games as back-up at Slovan Bratislava and a career blooming in the national U20 team, playing in Slovak Extraliga and a destiny as back-up of the more experienced Daniel Gibl, from last season goalie of Barrie Colts of Ontario Hockey League, possibly the best junior league in the world. Now packing the bags to come back home, Godla takes home the title of MVP of the tournament, conquered finishing ahead of many celebrated stars, along with the Best Goalkeeper and All-Star Goalkeeper awards and especially the tribute paid by the Canadian fans, probably the best recognition possible. Saving 224 of 242 shots with a percentage of 92.56, Godla was undoubtedly the star of the tournament and the key player, along with promising Martin Reway and Christian Jaros, of surprising Slovakia, winner of the bronze.

The rest of the awards is dominated by champion Canada. Remarkable the absence of Russian player, apart captain Vladislav Gavrikov, voted as the Best Defender
