For the fourth time in a row a Russian team won the European Champions Cup

After three consecutive victories by Tornado Moscow Oblast, also this year the European Champions Cup remains in Russia, moving to Nizhny Novgorod, home of powerful SKIF. Despite having finished the tournament, held in Espoo, Finland, with a perfect record, the campaign for the Russian team wasn't an easy walk. Two battled victories - 3-1 against host Espoo Blues and 2-1 against Linkoping - gives SKIF the decisive advantage, sealed by the final 7-4 against the weaker team, Swiss HC Lugano. SKIF’s Finnish stars, netminder Meeri Raisanen and forward Karoliina Rantamaki, were the key players for the final victory.

Linkoping finished second beating 5-2 Espoo , ahead of Finnish team and Lugano.

Here the individual awards:
Best Goalkeeper: Meeri Raisanen, SKIF Nizhni Novgorod
Best Defenceman: Mira Jalosuo, SKIF Nizhni Novgorod
Best Forward: Anja Stiefel, HC Lugano
