Skellefteå beat Linköping 3-1 after scoring three goals in the third period. The 2013 and 2014 champion is now in the finals again.
Skellefteå AIK - Linköping HC 3 - 1 (0-0, 0-1, 3-0)
Series 4-1
Regular season winner Skellefteå are aiming to win its third title in a row. Today Linköping was eliminated in the semi final series. Linköping who after three losses won game four two days ago needed another win today to stay alive. Broc Little's 1-0 goal late in the second period gave them a lot of hope. But as usual Skellefteå is the strongest team in the long run. In the third period Axel Holmström, Oskar Sundqvist and Martin Lundberg all used weak Linköping defense to score to make it 3-1 for the home team. Linköping pulled Marcus Högberg from the net but were never close to catching up with Skellefteå again.
"We have an opportunity to write Swedish hockey history, becoming the first club ever to win six titles in three seasons. No one else has managed to do it and it is a rare luxury to have that opportunity. We will do everything we can to succeed. I know they have named the playoffs to The hunt for Skellefteå, but they will have to continue to hunt", says Hans Wallson to Sportbladet.
In the other semi final Växjö leads 3-1 over Frölunda.
