Germany stays on top, beat France in opener
In a tight game, Patrick Reimer's last minute goal gives Germany the first 3 points of the World Championship.
In a game that didn't see many goals, it was Germany's Michael Wolf who opened the score in the 13th minute assisted by Tobias Rieder and Patrick Hager. The score remained unchainged for the rest of the period as well as the middle period. While Germany took 2 minor and one 10' penalty, the 5 minor penalties taken by the France were costly although it didn't look like it at all at the start of the final period. 44 seconds were played when Damien Fleury scored the equalizer and kept the French hopes alive. A hooking penalty with a minute and 12 seconds left in the game was enough for Patrick Reimer to score on oldie Cristobal Huet while Patrick Hager recorded his second assist of the game.
France will continue the tournament today against the Swiss while Germany takes on group favourite Canada in the afternoon game.
