In a relaxed game, Denmark was not a hard opponent to play for Finland. Still, Suomi scores just three times of forty-one shots because of fabulous play by Danish goalie Dahm.
Since the very beginning, Denmark took the game against Finland in a very prestigious way, playing very physically while sending Finland a message they are not afraid of them. But the offensive force of Team Suomi did give Danes any other chance than to be defensive. However, thanks to great performance by Denmark starting goalie Sebastian Dahm, they kept the game scoreless after 20 minutes.
The resistance of Denmark had no longer lasting than 27 minutes - and since that moment till end of the second period, they cashed in three times. Interestingly, two of the three goals, the first and third, were like experiencing a deja vu.
Not only they looked alike - a defender (Ansi Salmela and later Essi Lindell) slapshooting from the blue line, while the shot is touched by a forward (Jussi Jokinen, Aleksander Barkov) ahead of Dahm to send it into the net - but what`s more both the cases were consulted with the video referee due to suspicion of high-sticking.
During whole 60 minutes the Danish goalie Dahm presented with only uncertain save. And yet it meant a goal. Between both goals of Jokinen and Barkov, in time 28:58, Dahm made a shoulder-save against a shot by Ossi Louhivaara. However he could not find where the puck rebounded to and these two seconds of Dahm`s unclarity were used by Janne Pesonen to score.
The third twenty minutes were similar to the first period. Finland attacking most of the time, but just letting Dahm to star. On the other side of the rink, it could be Denmark to score, but hit the goal-post only.
