At the latest league meeting all the teams were in attendance except for Debrecen, Nové Zámky and Brasov, five topics were discussed.
The league members unanimously accepted the changes to the league rules, a few points will be discussed in the next meeting but everything was accepted. Issue of sanctions and penalties will be discussed at a later period.
Next seasons schedule was also discussed but until the final number of teams participating in the league is set this can not be fully dissected and was tabled until a later date. By then the Slovak federation and the Romanian federation presidency will be resolved and we will have a clearer picture if the non Hungarian teams will compete in the league or not.
The question of the MOL League presidency was answered as well, with the rift between the League and the Hungarian federation the league president stepped down. The league elected Álmos Szőke from Red Bull Hungary as the new president, István Végh remained as one of the vice presidents, the other positions still remains vacant.
All other remaining questions hope to be resolved at the next league meeting on June 30th after the Federation will have a new president as well.
As it was mentioned before the Péter Kerey, president of the MOL League had stepped down after the last league meeting a new president was needed and the league elected Álmos Szőke to the position
After Thursday’s MOL League meeting new president Álmos Szőke gave icehockey.hu a quick interview minutes after being elected as the new league president.
What do you expect from this position?
I am expecting to create the unity that is needed from the point of hockey, I am not only talking about Hungarian hockey but also for the non Hungarian teams in the league as well. We have to continue what the previous administration had achieved and develop what has been good and what has worked.
What can you bring from your professional background to the League?
I will be able to help the league from the business side relying on over 25 years of experience. I hope to bring in new sponsors to the teams and the life of the league.
What is your hockey background?
I have relatively low level background as I still play at an amatuer level, I love this sport and have always been able to support teams in the league as well as the national team.
