USA-Russia 2-5 (1-1, 0-2, 1-2)
Russian goalie Vladislav Sukhachev made 37 saves when Russia qualified for the semi final. Alexander Yakovenko scored twice for the Russians who won for the second day in a row.
"We are happy to win our second game on this tournament. Our performance was much better than yesterday in the game against Slovakia", says Russian head coach Vitaly Prokhorov to hlinkamemorial.com.
Igor Geraskin, Nikita Popugaev and Georgii Ivanov gor the other Russian goals. Casey Mittelstadt and Kailer Yamamoto scored for USA who suffered the second loss in as many games.
Canada-Sweden 2-0 (1-0, 0-0, 1-0)
Filip Gustavsson was great in the Swedish net but Mike McLeod's goal in the first period along with a late empty-netter by William Bitten was enough for a Canadian 2-0 win.
Slovakia-Finland 2-4 (1-3, 0-1, 1-0)
Slovakia lost again and Finland got the second win of Hlinka Memorial. Finland had a 3-0 lead already after 11:11 with goals by Robin Salo, Elli Tolvanen and Otto Mäkinen and could then control the game until the end. Otto Koivula scored the fourth Finnish goal. Matej Galbavy and Dusan Kmec got the Slovak goals.
Czech Republic-Switzerland 5-3 (1-0, 1-1, 3-2)
David Kofron scored two important goals when the home team got its first victory of the tournament. First he restored the Czech lead just 25 seconds after Switzerland had scored 1-1 and then he got the 4-1 goal that turned out to be the game-winner. Kodytek, Zachar and Pavlik also scored for the Czechs while Stadler, Lerch and Brantschen got the Swiss goals. Tomorrow Czech Republic will play Sweden an game which decides who qualifies for the semi final.
