The start of 2015/16 SHL season is closing in and for upcoming season, there will be 14 teams competing for the trophy Le Mat. Reigning champions are Växjö Lakers. For the next 14 days, Eurohockey is presenting one team each day. In Part 14. we meet Rögle BK
Rögle BK is the 14th and last team in our serie "Before SHL - Eurohockey presents." Rögle BK is one of three newcomers in SHL, but the team from Ängelholm, Sweden have experince from earlier play in SHL. Now their back and wants to establish themselves as a SHL team.
Main focus is to stay in the league and Rögle have signed some good players and kept most part of the team that went back to SHL. But in order to maintain in the highest league, Rögle have signed Dominik Granak, Kelsey Tessier and hired coach Anders Eldebrink.
Both Tessier and Granak is returning to the club they've represented before and that's something Rögle needs. Players who knows the organizations and knows what it takes to play at that level. -"I've missed Rögle and Ängelholm. There's passionate fans and players and it's nice having the fans with us," Kelsey Tessier said.
Former star player Anders Eldebrink is thrilled to take over the wheel: -"It's going to be a tough season, but we're staying humble for the task. Maybe we don't have as much pressure as everyone else and that's nice," Eldebrink said.
Rögle have played a total of 10 preseason games, won 5 and lost five. This gives them 15 points, a +/- of -2 and a 10th position in the preseason table. Rögles opening game will be against Frölunda HC on September 17th in Scandinavium Arena, Gothenburg, Sweden.
