Last years semifinalists Frölunda HC have started the 2015/16 season strong and are the leading team in SHL after six rounds. But, is it their year?
It was a disappointing past season for the team from Gothenburg, Sweden, as they were eliminated in the 6th semifinal game by reigning champions Växjö Lakers.
Though Frölunda have lost a couple of strong players, most of last years edition is left. Besides this, the organisation have recruited well and the team looks stronger and faster. I know it's still early in the season, but we can see a hint of how the teams play.
Frölunda anno 2015/16 has more winners-head in the team, they have two great and competing goalies, they have a strong defense and a toxic offensive play. The old fox, Joel Lundqvist seems to have find his old shape and are strong in front of the net.
Speaking of Lundqvist. He's a player that do a hard work every night. Both defensively as offensively and he's a natural leader. In the first 6 games in SHL, Joel have a record of 3 points (1+2), a +/- of +5 and only 2 minutes in the penalty box. But the most remarkable is that he has delivered 16 hits.
Frölunda made a strong precense against ERC Ingolstad in Champions Hockey League and advanced to 1/8 Finals. One of the reasons for the win, can be spelled Ryan Lasch. An important player in the 2015/16 edition of Frölunda.
Frölunda also made a strong effort against 2014/15 finalists Skellefteå AIK, as the won 6-2 in Skellefteå Kraft Arena. This shows how strong the Indians are this year.
