Soap opera at Biel
Soap opera at the new Biel stadium; Auston Matthews is back again; Fribourg does not leave the first place.
Biel 3 Kloten 2
This week Biel was a great subject for hockey writers. At the beginning of the week a huge soap opera bettwen Biel’s coach, Biel and the Swiss National team took place. The Swiss national team wanted to steal Biel's coach without paying nothing. Not only Biel said no but Kevin Schlapfer had its salary augmented. There was, then, a lot of curiosity before the game to see the reaction of Biel's fans. Again, a soap opera. Only in Biel we are able to see a standing ovation for the coach before the match started, as Kevin Schlapfer's nickname is “hockey god” for Biel fans. And one more time they didn't fail to cheer their living hero.
The second story is about Maxime Macenauer, the new Canadian import for Biel, which is being tested since last Monday. Recommended by former Biel star Sebastian Bordeleau, Biel fans didn’t expect much from him given his North American stats. The only thing the player was certain of was his free plane ticket from Montreal to Zurich. So how was he? Awesome! Not only he opened the score in his first shift but he also played hockey like it was the last game of his life.
Kloten tied the score while shorthanded with Collenberg, assisted by Santala. In the next shift Biel responded with a Daniel Steiner goal. Before the first period's end new Biel top scorer Tim Stapleton scored, assisted by Swedish player Nicklas Olausson.
The second period was disputed with nice pace with Biel always in control and Kloten coming near to Lukas Meili's goal only in sporadic times. In the third period Kloten scored its second goal by Lukas Frick assisted by Sheppard. But the victory for the home team was ensured. With this victory Biel jumps now at the sixth place in the league.
Lausanne 1 Zürich 2 OT
Lausanne scored in the first period with Harri Pesonen assisted by Alain Mieville. Future number one on 2016 NHL draft Auston Matthews tied the game assisted by Robert Nilsson. This was the ninth goal scored for the young star in only 10 games. Eventually Zürich won the game in overtime with a Robert Nilsson goal assisted by Blindenbacher. With this victory Zürich is now in a comfortable third position in the table with eight points more than Geneva.
Fribourg 4 Davos 2
New NLA star Devin Setoguchi scored during the third minute of the game assisted by Axelsson. Fribourg captain tied for the home team assisted by Finnish star Salminen. In the second period Davos scored in a shorthanded situation by Dick Axelsson assisted by goalie Leonardo Genoni. But this season Fribourg is invincible at home and this game was no exception. First Sprunger, then Salminen scored the game winning goal. Greg Mauldin made the fourth with the opponents' empty net. After thirteen games Fribourg has fourteen points more than the teams placed in the play-out area.
