Sheffield Steelers forward honoured for 500 games
Jeff League set another impressive record with EIHL's Sheffield Steelers.
Sheffield Steelers forward Jeff Legue,
a native of Cornwall, Ontario, last year was honoured for amassing
500 points for the Steelers.
But now he has achieved the record of 500 appearances for
them. He is the top franchise leader for
goals in major leagues, with 254 and now against Belfast Giants has reached
this latest milestone.
Best known for his time in Sheffield
when he teamed up with sniper Joey Talbot when they scored six hundred points
in four years between them.
Since arriving from Germany in 2007, Legue has found
the back of the net 254 times making him the 3rd highest point
scorer in the club’s history, 3rd highest goalscorer and out on his
own as the club’s all-time leading EIHL point and goalscorer. He has been top
scorer for Sheffield for four years, three of
them consecutively.
At the start of 2014/15 season family
commitments forced him into the English Premier League at Sheffield Steeldogs
but found the lure of the EIHL was too much and came back to lift the league
title in 2015.
