All you need to know about the next round.
Tonight and tomorrow Switzerland will see some of its best teams competing in the Round of 16 of the Swiss Cup, the national cup competition. After the upset by Dübendorf, the amateur team from the third-tier 1. Regio League which knocked out of the Cup last year's champion HC Davos, tonight Biel wil meet Servette, Bern will meet Zug and the aforementioned Dübendorf will meet Visp. Lugano (still without a new permanent coach despite the announcements of a new one to be found already during last weekend) and Kloten will play against last year's NLA relegated team Rapperswil and Ajoie, respectively.
Tomorrow, Lausanne will host Fribourg, while Zürich will fight on home ice against Langnau and Ambrì-Piotta will face La Chaux-de-Fonds from the NLB. This one will be the first game with Hans Kossmann as the new coach of the Leventinesi, whom he first trained yesterday.
Of all the NLA teams, only one will not play this round: HC Davos, as has been previously said. All the other teams involved with the exception of Dübendorf come from the NLB (National League B), the second tier of Swiss hockey.
