The classification table remains basically the same despite a huge loss for Mannheim
The international break has finished, and the fourteen DEL teams are back on ice. Last week's action sees Mannheim still on top of the table, despite a bad loss (5-2 for the home team) in Munich. Still, the previous win 3-0 against Cologne enabled the Eagles to keep their leadership. While Berlin remains second, the Hamburg Freezers jump over the Ice Tigers to obtain the third place: the first game, against Krefeld, was only determined by a shootout, which the Northerners won 4-3; the second was, nonetheless, a huge loss against Cologne 6 goals to 1. Still, the Haie remain at the seventh place despite a very positive start of the season.
As for Nuremberg, the Ice Tigers lost 2-6 at home to the Augsburger Panther last Friday before turning things right by defeating Schwenningen 1-3 on their opponents' ice. Berlin lost as well against Augsburg last night, with the Swabians strongly showing themselves as an interesting "new force" in the league. Ingolstadt remains the last team on the table, thus worsening its bad period: an overtime loss against Krefeld and a 2-5 home defeat at home facing Iserlohn don't do anything to move them from the bottom of the league, which they share with the aforementioned Krefeld.
