Salavat had been up 2-0 and 3-1 in the series so of course the team was shaken when Metallurg had tied it. But the team from Ufa played a solid seventh game and won 1-0 on a third period goal by Vladimir Antipov assisted by Kirill Koltsov. Erik Ersberg in Salavat's net only had to make 20 saves to earn his third shut-out of the playoffs. Georgy Gelashvili in Magnitogorsk's net made 35 saves but that didn't help much as his players weren't able to score.
During the regular season the final teams Atlant and Salavat played each other twice; October 22 when Atlant won 2-0 and January 15 when Salavat won 4-3 in overtime. The finals will start on Friday.
