CSKA wins the first KHL semifinal game
CSKA Moscow beat another army club – SKA St. Petersburg in the opener of the series.
Just like
last year the two army clubs met in the semifinals, and just like last year
CSKA opened with a 3-0 win at home. Last year SKA was also down 3-0 in the series
to turn it to a 4-3 win and then beat Ak Bars in the finals. Will CSKA let that
happen again?
Today the
Moscow club scored a goal in each period and since the young CSKA star goalie
Ilya Sorokin continues to impress, saving all 27 shots, the home team got a
comfortable win.
Roman Lyubimov scored the first goal in the middle of the first period and Stéphane Da Costa on a powerplay in the middle of the second.
SKA pulled
their Finnish goalie Mikko Koskinen towards the end and Dmitry Kugryshev scored
his first goal of the playoffs to secure the win.
Koskinen
was by the way named best goalie of the quarter finals thanks to two shutouts and
four wins against Dynamo Moscow. His teammate Vadim Shipachyov was not on the
scoring sheet today but he scored 12 points (4+8) in the quarter finals to be
named best forward.
Tomorrow
starts the other KHL semi final series between Metallurg Magnitogorsk and
Salavat Yulayev Ufa.
