Australia wins derby against New Zealand

Australia won the important derby game of the World Championship Div. II against New Zealand 2-0. One point in the last game against Serbia will be enough for the host to win promotion. Belgium finished the tournament with a 8-2 win against Mexico.

With a win New Zealand would still have been in the competition for the first place but the host Australia did what was expected and won the game. The final result was 2-0. Both goals were scored in the second period by
Nathan Walker and
Joseph Hughes. Matt Ezzy made 22 saves to earn the shut-out. New Zealand's keeper Zak Nothling saved 38 of 40 shots.

Belgium played their last game today while the other four teams still have a game to play. Mexico was beaten 8-2. Bryan Kolodziejczyk, Mitch Morgan and Kristof van Looy scored two goals each while Dries Leirs and Jesse Raekelboom scored one. Belgium is now third in the standings while Mexice, who lost all games but the walkover win against North Korea, is in a fifth place.
